Dr. Regan joined Summit in December of 2022 as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. She received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). She completed her APA-accredited internship at Children’s National in Washington, DC, followed by her postdoctoral fellowship at Levine Children’s/Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC.
Gillian works primarily with school-age children, adolescents, and adults with mood, anxiety, and adjustment-related concerns as it relates to life transitions and stressors as well as issues surrounding grief and loss. Dr. Regan previously served as a Pediatric Psychologist at Levine Children’s, with a faculty appointment through Wake Forest School of Medicine. She has particular expertise in working with children, families, and adults diagnosed with acute and chronic medical conditions, including cancer and blood disorders.
Dr. Regan focuses on providing compassion and empathy through a collaborative and integrative therapy process. She primarily utilizes components from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and interpersonal therapy in order to uniquely tailor treatment based on individual and family needs. In addition to individual therapy, she has experience leading group-based interventions.
Gillian is originally from Washington, DC, though excited to return to family and friends in Richmond. She is happily married and has two young children – a son and a daughter. She enjoys being active and outdoors with her family and friends and the family’s yellow lab, Tucker.
