Teresa Vossen, LCSW, MS

Ms. Vossen joined Summit in May of 2024 as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She completed her MSW with a concentration in Child Welfare from Syracuse University and also holds a Master of Sport Psychology from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.

With over 25 years of experience as a social worker in the Ithaca City Schools, Teresa has worked with a wide range of students from 3-18 years old. Since moving to Richmond, she has provided counseling to youth in residential care and mental performance skills and parent support to military families.

Teresa specializes in counseling children and adolescents aged 4-18 years, along with their caregivers, in various areas such as parenting skills, emotional regulation, anxiety, and behavioral concerns. Her approach to counseling is collaborative, strengths-based, and trauma-informed, using a client-centered partnership style.

Teresa believes that connection is the heart of her work and that every person needs at least one person who believes in their ability to grow, thrive, and change. She is intrinsically motivated to learn and explore and is a lifelong learner, inspiring her studies in sport psychology.

In her free time, Teresa enjoys exploring the James River Parks system trails by bike and foot, practicing yoga, reading historical and relationship-based fiction, and trying out new restaurants in Richmond. She spends her leisure time with her husband, Gary, listening to live music, and visiting local museums. Teresa and Gary have two adult sons, Joe and Massimo, who are former college athletes and love discussing all things sports, especially lacrosse and football.
